Baby Dribbler
A super easy make in 4 easy steps! A perfect and practical gift for a newborn baby, Christening gift, baby Shower gifts or toddlers – in fact anytime of the year gifts!
What you will need:
Soft printed cotton for the main fabric 14 x 10” (36 x 26cms)
Plain white backing 14 x 10” (36 x 26cms). (Soft Flannelette or soft-brushed cotton works well for both top and backing fabric).
Cut 2 lengths of Ribbon measuring approx. 3/8” x 12” (1 x 30 cms)
Scissors/Rotary cutter (Cutting mat if you are using a rotary cutter)
Dressmakers Pins
Fabric marker or Tailors chalk
How To Make:
1. Fold the main fabric in half right sides to right sides, do the same with the backing fabric and lay them on top of each other. Pin to hold in place and using the template mark and cut out both top and backing fabrics.
- Lay the main fabric right side facing up and pin the ribbons at the two uppermost corners of the dribbler. Place the backing fabric on top and pin in place making sure you encase any stray ribbon. Remember you are going to be sewing around, so you don’t want the ribbon to get caught!
3. Leaving a small gap to one side for turning through, sew around the Dribbler using approx. ¼ “ seam. Turn through to the right side and press, making sure you press the seam allowance of the gap.
- Topstitch along the edge and the opening…it’s done!

JJ’S Tips
- Personalise it….Add initials in soft wool felt in a bright colour!
- You can use poppers or a hook & loop instead of the ribbons.
- Scale up if you want to make cool dribblers for messy toddlers!
